The upstairs lounge with floor-to-ceiling glass onto the sea

431 Kusweg · The view and the garage

The top unit

The upstairs home. Two bedrooms, five people, and the best sea views in the house — water from the lounge, and water from the bed.

The top unit

The view and the garage.

The whole sea-facing wall is glass. From the lounge you look straight out over the dune and the surf, and the main bedroom does the same — the ocean is the first thing you see in the morning.

There is a built-in braai — the South African barbecue — indoors with its own bar fridge, so the weather never decides whether you are cooking or not. And the top unit has the garage, so boards, bikes and bags go somewhere secure and out of the salt air.

The other half

Or look at the bottom unit.

3 bedrooms, sleeps 6, and the big covered terrace onto the dune. If you are more than five, or two families travelling together, take both. The whole house sleeps 11 for R14 500 a night — exactly the sum of the two units, nothing added — and it is the only way to have the building to yourselves: the view and the garage upstairs, the terrace and the table for twelve downstairs, and two kitchens so nobody is queueing for the hob.
